Borderspirit Border Collies

About Borderspirit

On the rare occasion that we breed, our objective is to raise healthy, well-socialised puppies that epitomise the spirit of the breed we have come to love. Therefore they will be intelligent, biddable and beautiful – the essence of the Border Collie.

We do not think of ourselves as ‘breeders’ as such. All our dogs live in our home and litters of puppies are very rare as I only breed when I am after another dog for myself. The sort of dog I am after is one that is healthy, has a great temperament, and is eager to work.

Before the puppies leave for their new homes, a lot of time is invested in socialising them with a range of experiences – trips to car parks, garden centres, watching traffic etc. Whilst I would expect these puppies to grow into good pets, that cannot be their only role in life. They will require mental stimulation and a job of work – be that agility, obedience, herding etc.

Our Puppies

Finding homes for our puppies is like finding homes we’d think appropriate for the responsibility of caring for one of our adult dogs. These puppies are extensions of their much loved mothers, and as such future owners will be carefully questioned to ensure they can offer suitable homes.

Ella with her first litter

The key thing to bear in mind when taking on any puppy, is the time and dedication required in rearing that dog to be a confident and well-adjusted adult. Border Collie puppies in particular are lively, demanding, and very clever – just as they should be. Occupying their busy minds is extremely important to ensure a happy and damage free household!

If you think you might be able to offer one of our puppies a loving and knowledgeable home, please do get in touch.

Planned Litters

Ella is due to be spayed as we plan that our new addition to the family, her niece Jade aka Avonskeep Red Stilletto (Nedlo Dream of Geena x Harrjak Tigger), will take over brood bitch duties in due course.

Previous Litters

Autumn 2010

Ella (Nedlo Daybreak) was mated for the first time in September 2010 to Tigger (Harrjak Tigger), and they became proud parents to 7 beautiful puppies on 19th November 2010. A nice even litter of 3 boys and 4 girls, black & white and red/chocolate & white in colour. For up to date pictures of this gorgeous litter, please visit our Borderspirit Facebook page.
